Turners syndrome is only found in females and in a mild form may not be recognized until the teenage years when the patient does not start menarche. There are varying degrees but one constant is short stature. As dentists, we may see certain things. Facially, there is a tendency towards brachycephaly ( broad face ).
The cranial base is flattened and generally there is a narrow maxilla and retrognathic mandible. Dentally there are short roots and smaller (hypoplastic teeth) and possible palatal bulges. There is normal mental development. Note the roots of lower pre-molars.
